Moated Grange at Gore Ash , the seat of Mr. Priest's friend, Sir Ralph West , a keen sportsman and traveller, just returned from abroad, with whom Priest is staying the week-end.
The action takes place in the Hall, the oak-panelled Dining Room and the Stables of the Grange.
