Overture, ' Le puits d'amour ' (The Well of Love)
BALFE was one of the few British composers of his time (the early nineteenth century) who had much experience abroad. He spent a good many years in Italy and France, singing, and composing Operas in the Italian style. The Well of Love was one of the works he produced in Paris in 1843, in which ho had the co-operation of the dramatist St. George and of the famous Scribe.
