In the cosy parlour of Mrs.
Tomlinson's cottage in the Yorkshire dales, she and her daughter are preparing the room for the reception of any visitors who may call. A handsome grandfather clock stands against the wall, and an old settle, a chest of draw ards, and one or two old-fashioned chairs are included in the furniture of the room.
