Mrs. Dale visited Mrs. Draycott and was shocked by the way she spoke about Sheila Elliot. Mn. Freeman has continued to enlist all the help she can for the Old People's Home. Art Joyfull has promised to take part in a charity concert in aid of the Home, and has had some trouble with his agent about it. But in the end Art talked him round. Donald Brooke has applied for a new job and has been short-listed for it.

Episode 4: The Encounter
During their stay in Oxford, Paul Temple and Steve meet Mavis Russell who shows them an anonymous letter she has received, together with Richard Ferguson 's signet ring, which Paul keeps. That evening, he and Steve meet Dinah Nelson and Reggie Mack intosh at a restaurant owned by Mark Elliot , a friend of Mrs. Russell's. Later, Paul receives a 'phone call from Richard Ferguson , who promises to meet him the following evening if he will first take the signet ring to a Mrs. Gulliver, but the ring is missing.
