Grandfather Dale did not feel well while he was in London; however, although Mrs. Freeman discovered this, and let it slip to Mrs. Dale after Grandfather's return to Scotland, they kept it from Dr. Dale. Sally discovered George Hichens waiting at 'Stephanie' to take out Marion Holt, one of her salesgirls, he still saw a great deal of Gerard Kingsley, and less of Fulton. Ivor's parents invited Joanna to stay with them for the weekend. Mrs. Maggs confessed to Mrs. Dale that Renee was not settling down in Kenton. Bob and Jenny finally decided to move to Wenderley. Mrs. Freeman agreed to speak at a meeting protesting against Sunday football on the common.
