Twenty-six-year-old railway worker Jason Vernalls lives in Peterborough with his childhood sweetheart Fiona and their 18-month-old son Harley.

Until a few years ago Jason was a fit and athletic running enthusiast who once completed the London Marathon and Great North Run in the same year.

But since then Jason (AKA Noodles for his ability to down multiple pots in one sitting) has become a fast food addict with a ballooning weight problem. Jason works night shifts so relishes the two or three evenings a week he has free to spend with friends at his local pub, when the drinking is long and hard. But it is the lack of a 'stop' button when it comes to food that is his real undoing. Jason will eat anything and everything, once downing 200 chicken nuggets in a sitting and on another occasion munching his way through an entire fast food restaurant menu.  

Now clinically obese, Jason's lifestyle has left him unfit, unhappy and unable to be the father and partner Fiona longs for him to be. At his own living autopsy he is horrified to see the damage he is doing to his heart, liver and massively overworked muscular skeletal system. At last it sinks in that unless he takes drastic action his fears that he may not live to see his 30th birthday, and that his son may grow up without a father, could well be realised.
