Stayin' Alive - 30 Years of Saturday Night Fever

Radio 2 calls upon record producer Nile Rodgers to celebrate the 30th anniversary of John Badham's musical urban drama Saturday Night Fever, which premiered in New York City on 14 December 1977. The film catapulted John Travolta into the Hollywood A-list, hiked the Bee Gees' pop-chart disco style to a new level, and triggered a global disco music-and-fashion craze. Contributors include Bee Gees manager and film producer Robert Stigwood, director John Badham, Travolta co-stars Karen Lynn Gorney, Joseph Cali, Paul Pape, Donna Pescow and Sam Coppola, Robin Gibb (co-writer of Stayin' Alive, Night Fever, More Than a Woman and If I Can't Have You), influential Trammps drummer Earl Young (Disco Inferno), costume designer Patrizia von Brandenstein, Studio 54 DJ Nicky Siano and Travolta's dance coach Deney Terrio.
