Phill Jupitus hosts an evening focusing on the music, presenters and programmes of 6 Music, the BBC's recently launched digital radio station featuring a mix of modern and classic tracks, music news, concert and CD reviews, interviews and archive recordings.

Shirley Manson of Garbage is in the mix offered by new BBC digital radio station 6 Music - get a taste tonight on Radio 2

The Joy of 6 8.00pm R2
This is a big week in the world of digital radio (that's the one that you get via a digital radio set, through your digital TV, or by going on-line). Tomorrow sees the launch of BBC7, in a simultaneous broadcast with Radio 4: read what Gillian Reynolds has to say about the newcomer on page 32. And tonight Radio 2 showcases another member of the BBC's digital family, 6 Music, with five hours of music and entertainment. But don't think that means it's a Radio 2 clone - even whispering Bob Harris sounds hard. Phill Jupitus is MC for what amounts to an introduction for the uninitiated.
6 Music virgins should let their senses be stimulated by an eclectic mix of funk, new music, classic BBC archive sessions and rock. However, if you're worried you might be moving too fast, too soon in this new digital experience, you might be calmed by RT's very own Andrew Collins with his half-hour slot, which has been described as "Home Truths with music".
