Leonard Pearcey traces the story of a much-loved music programme from the golden days of radio. Grand Hotel was one of radio's earliest outside broadcasts, a technical triumph and possibly a nightmare, too, for its day. It was first heard live from the Grand
Hotel in Eastbourne on 28 July 1925, accompanied by the chink of tea cups and polite applause.
