Steve Race talks to Mary Cook, who auditioned anyone who wanted to be someone in BBC Television after the war. She reminisces about her career in showbusiness, including writing down the notes as Irving Berlin made up tunes in a London hotel.
And she remembers the famous names who passed across her stage on the way to stardom, including Harry Secombe, Peter Sellers, Michael Bentine, Shirley Abicair, Benny Hill, Rolf Harris, Max Bygraves, Tony Hancock, Larry Adler and Sooty.
