Every year Venice stages its ancient Carnival, where art, culture and history combine in an extravaganza of gaiety and splendour. Originally it was a time when the rich and poor could come together, their identities firmly hidden behind their masks.
Today, Gloria joins the merry-makers, who have journeyed from all over the globe to sample this Venetian experience. But it is not only the tourists who flood into Venice: this great city is still threatened by the very waters which once protected it. So tune in to Gloria as she discovers what is being done to preserve Venice, and captures something of the magnificence of the Carnival.
