On 26 September 1984 the agreement was signed which will determine the future of Hong Kong after the lease from China expires in 1997. But Hong Kong is more than a city, and more than an island. It is 237 islands, 300 square miles of Chinese mainland, and nearly 51/2 million people - of whom 98 per cent are Chinese. It is also one of the most important trading and economic capitals of the world. In three programmes broadcast direct from Hong Kong this week, John Dunn will be talking to the people who live and work there, and conveying some of the colour and excitement of this fascinating area.
