Marjorie Anderson looks back at the year, and recalls some of the topics and personalities in the last twelve months of Woman's Hour
Dancing in the Streets written and read by CLIFFORD HANLEY
Third of three excerpts
Since the beginning of the year. Woman's Hour has filled a little over 250 hours on Radio 2. That means more than 1,600 individual items, and today's round-up tries to reflect the image of the year, as seen through the eyes of contributors to the programme.
The result is a complex web, made up of great events and small occasions, of distinguished personalities and people hitherto unknown; familiar voices, anonymous voices; poetry and puddings: pets (and pet hates!); facts and fantasies; advice and admonition: courage and compassion, and so on. The year's output touches on almost every aspect of our lives, and if you have been unable to listen throughout the year, today is your chance at least to sample the range of Woman's Hour 1969.
