University students in Oxford have demonstrated against higher education cuts.

University students and academics in Oxford have demonstrated against higher education cuts and proposed rises to tuition fees.

Faringdon Superstore - Plans to put a new Tesco's on the outskirts of Faringdon have been turned down.  Much to the annoyance of 100's of locals wanting it.

Transport - The government has said it's not going to fund the new platform and alterations at Oxford Railway Station.  Plus the East West line to Milton Keynes is up for discussion again.

Student Protest - Thousands of students are in Oxford city centre to protest Lord Browne's review - and the severe cuts to Higher Education funding announced in the Comprehensive Spending Review - Vince Cable has cancelled his visit as a result.

Haiti - We'll catch up with one local doctor who is out there helping the cholera hit nation.

Ashes - The England cricket team fly to Australia tomorrow to begin preparations for the Ashes series.  It's one of the great rivalries in sport and usually leads to fierce competition and angry exchanges between the players.  At Lords today the England captain Andrew Strauss held a press conference to talk about his team's chances. 

Clocks Change - The clocks go back on Saturday night - but there are signs it might not happen next year.  Momentum appears to be building towards moving the clocks permanently forward - leading to lighter evenings but darker mornings during the Winter.

Mercers Money -  The government is setting out the details of its plans to encourage regional development today. The Business Secretary Vince Cable is announcing the locations of the first of the new local enterprise partnerships - which are designed to promote economic growth.  Oxfordshire is one of them.

Young Drivers - Should they take extra lessons after passing their test?

The Emperor - It caught the imagination of the nation earlier this week, but it might not actually have gone!   We'll check in with our colleagues at BBC Somerset to get the latest.

Pronunciation - The pronunciation of words are changing and it seems young people could be the reason why.  A new exhibition by the British Library is showing just how much.  Words such as - says, ate, mischievous, garage, schedule and migraine - are all apparently pronounced differently by younger people. 

40th Anniversary - The penultimate day of our celebrations.  We will have lots on this tomorrow including news of something we would like you to get involved with.  For today we head back a couple of years to 2008.
