[Article] Peter's prepared
Peter Powell (Saturday 8.0 am) continues his commitment to International Youth Year with a report from Kenya this week. When we spoke, Peter and producer Chris Lycett were preparing to fly to Africa to join a party of Venture Scouts from Bolton who had raised £23,000 (including £1,000 from a Radio 1 charity disco) to construct 60 water tanks around the village of Iiuni near Nairobi. Peter says: 'It's unknown territory for me and it certainly proves that Radio 1 doesn't just sit on its bottom and play pop music all day'.
