Join Andy Whittaker on BBC Radio Nottingham. Andy has worked in a catalogue shop and a pork pie factory in the past but his big love has always been radio.

In fact, his interest stems from one of his jobs as a prefect at secondary school, when he used to operate the microphones for school assembly.

At 17 Andy did his first live radio show for the BBC and he's been doing them ever since. 

Andy is passionate about Nottinghamshire and, over the years, he's devised a number of initiative's on BBC Radio Nottingham to bring people together to enjoy what Robin Hood County has to offer. 

The Big Night Out asked you to put aside the perceived negative image of the city centre and come out to enjoy a fun night for all ages. It is an idea that has been so successful; it has now spread to other cities in the UK. 

Andy also brought you the Big Day Out when historic tourist attractions across Nottinghamshire threw open their doors for free, the Energy Experiment which saved masses of energy when people switched off things they were not even using and Andy campaigned to get bells ringing across the county simultaneously to mark St George's Day.

Away from his show you'll find Andy spending time with his kids, in his garden or on holiday. 

In 2009 Andy was named Presenter of the Year at the Gillards - which honours achievement in BBC Local Radio.

Paul Robey

Join Paul Robey on BBC Radio Nottingham. Born in Clifton, Paul attended Greencroft Junior School and Fairham Comprehensive School.

When realising that he wanted to become a radio presenter, his careers' teacher suggested he apply for jobs in insurance or banking. 

He followed this "sensible" advice, ending up at the Prudential on Maid Marian Way for eight years. 

He also had a Saturday job and one of Paul's claims to fame is being the first lad ever to work on the checkouts in the Victoria Centre branch of Tesco. 

At the same time, he was actively pursuing opportunities in radio and developing his craft on a voluntary basis at Nottingham Hospitals' Radio, based in the newly opened Queen's Medical Centre. 

He eventually got his professional break at Radio Trent in 1982 working alongside Dale Winton, but had always harboured a secret desire to work at Nottingham's truly local station. 

Not many people know that Paul shares a guilty pleasure with Anne Davies from East Midlands Today... the first single they ever bought was "Puppy Love" by Donny Osmond.

Join Jo Davies on BBC Radio Nottingham. Jo started off volunteering at Kings Mill Hospital Radio.

She thinks there is still a scary picture of her up on the wall in their studios in what she thought was a trendy denim shirt. 

It was at Kings Mill that she fell in love with chatting to people, finding out about them and being part of a team that could tell them what was happening in the world. She loved being able to choose the music too.

Her life at Radio Nottingham began with volunteering for Alan Clifford, helping set up guests for his programme. 

That is where her love of live theatre really took off. One of her first on air experiences was reviewing local theatre productions on Alan's show. 

She is the celebrity booker for the station, from Torvill and Dean to Liza Minelli, and admits she adores meeting rich and famous people. 

She also loves musical theatre. Les Miserables is her favourite production.

Amanda fell into radio in 1986 when she answered an advert for someone who could publicise community groups and ended up on the Careline.

Since then, she has worked for nearly all of the commercial stations in the East Midlands and also for a national station where she did the Breakfast show for three years. Not a natural early riser, she found the 0400 wake ups a real challenge.

She has been lucky enough to meet some great and unusual people and her oddest radio moments include waiting for Sir Roger Moore to come out of a gingerbread house, having her shirt photographed by Rod Stewart and singing King of the Swingers to a very startled Kim Wilde. 

Alongside radio, Amanda has also worked in a homeless hostel, as a CAB manager, a nanny, a helpline operator, a volunteer coordinator and for a magazine about canals and riverboats - amongst others. 

She is married to the long suffering Steve and has two grown up children, Joseph and Susannah. 

Her home is a bit of a minature zoo. One of her proudest achievements is that she has taught her cockatiels to whistle the theme tune to The Flumps.
