A Kent woman, who adopted five children with foetal alcohol syndrome, is urging mums-to-be to think twice before drinking during pregnancy.

The plea comes as a charity is encouraging support for pregnant women, by asking people to abstain from alcohol for nine days to symbolise the nine months a baby is carried.

Foetal Alcohol Syndrome is caused by women drinking during pregnancy, and can lead to babies being born with mental and physical disabilities (06:07, 07:07 and 08:07).

Also, did you go shopping on Sunday? Maybe you took advantage of the longer opening hours that are in place during the Olympics and Paralympics. 

At Bluewater they have been opening until seven on Sundays recently, and have seen a surge in the number of shoppers, but elsewhere in Kent it has been a bit of a damp squib (06:25, 07:22 and 08:22).

The Paralympics opens in Stratford tomorrow, and ahead of the Games there will be a torch relay. It is not on such a big scale as the one before the Olympics - it takes place over 24 hours rather than 70 days and will cover 92 miles from Stoke Mandeville to Stratford. 

Like the Olympic Torch relay - all the torchbearers are chosen from local communities for their charity work and achievements. 

64-year-old Bob Castle, who works at Dungeness B Power Station, is one of them and he was nominated by his employers (08:48).

Did you go shopping on Sunday? Maybe you took advantage of the longer opening hours that are in place during the Olympics and Paralympics.

Should Sunday opening hours be extended permanently. Should there be longer shopping hours?

Also, today's children go to bed later than their grandparents did at their age, eat later and prefer playing in on computer games to playing out, according to new findings from The Sleep Council.

They also read less and 63% of children have a television set in their room.
