Ed's tired after his night out with Fallon. He confesses to Oliver that he's been a bit lax in monitoring the milk yield and Oliver advises him not to let his social life distract him from the job in hand. 

Eddie's disappointed that his turkeys aren't selling very well, so Clarrie suggests that they skip their anniversary meal later to save the pennies. But Eddie's insistent they should still have a romantic meal together at The Bull. 

Alistair worries to Oliver about his father, who has broken his leg; they may have to get him a carer until he's better. 

Everyone gathers at the Bull to watch England play Croatia and Clarrie gets increasingly suspicious about why Eddie's taken her for a meal there, especially when first Ed then Will and Nic turn up. When Ed suggests having another Grundy World of Christmas to make some cash; Eddie reckons they could have a Christmas fair. When Clarrie discovers that even Joe's coincidentally at the pub she smells a rat, but lets Eddie go and join everyone in the bar to watch the football. When Nic comments how wonderful it must be to be with someone for so long, Clarrie says that she sometimes can't help but wonder.

Barbara Myers and guest Peter Mortimer, Professor of Dermatological Medicine to the University of London at St George’s and the Royal Marsden Hospitals, London answer questions on lymphoedema.

A fluid swelling that’s chronic, persisting for months, in any part of the body is likely to be a lymphoedema. 

Although thought to be relatively uncommon it is estimated that at least 100,000 people in the UK have lymphoedema. 

It occurs when the lymphatic system, which is responsible for draining waste materials away from the tissues, stops working properly. 

When the lymphatic system is damaged, fluids accumulate in the tissues, causing swelling. If left untreated, the swelling can become hard and extremely painful. 

It can affect any part of the body but most commonly occurs on the limbs. 

Lymphoedema can be a distressing side effect of surgery for cancer, of the breast or prostate for example, when lymph nodes are removed. 

Likewise, radiotherapy can cause scar tissue which can damage the lymphatic system. 

However, three-quarters of lymphoedemas occur in patients that have not had cancer. 

Injury, reduced mobility and problems with the veins can all increase your risk of developing it. 

Because the lymphatic system is not well understood, lymphoedema has been misdiagnosed as a sprained ankle, water retention or swelling from an allergic reaction.  

While lymphodema is not curable, there's a great deal that can be done to help, particularly if the condition is caught early. Skin care, compression stockings, exercise and massage can all help to reduce moderate swelling. 

But treatment needs to be tailored to the individual. Severe swellings need a more intensive treatment programme. Compression and massage can help, but how effective is drug therapy or surgery?

Peggy says she'll talk to the doctor at Jack's next check-up but Lilian says she must ask for support from the family as well. Lilian then insists on picking Jack up from the day centre while Peggy puts her feet up and relaxes.

Lynda buttonholes Alan about putting on a Christmas concert at St Stephen's with the gospel choir she's recently reviewed. All she has to do now is fill the rest of the programme. Alan's delighted; it's just the kind of thing he wants the church used for.

Kathy anxiously waits to hear from her liaison officer and is shocked to discover that Taylor's pleading not guilty - and is reapplying for bail. Kathy worries about him coming to find her, but Lynda tries to reassure her; Taylor wouldn't do anything that might jeopardise his case. As Lynda's leaving, Kenton worries about the effect it's all going to have on Kathy. He angrily says that Taylor's as guilty as hell and is going to end up in jail, so why don't they stop wasting their time and leave him there to rot?
