is a special 48-hour-long marathon presented by Radio London's
David Carter , starting today at
6.0 am and ending on Tuesday at 6.30 am.
Its purpose is to raise money for charities - mainly those associated with The Year of the Child. Listeners are asked for their dedications and are encouraged to bid in on-air auctions, and involve themselves in other light - hearted activities.
Celebrities from all walks of life are appearing live and donating items for the auctions. Commercial organisations also are offering cash or gifts.
The Radio Car is visiting all the London Boroughs during the course of the broadcast.
Members of Radio London's staff working on this project are giving their effort on a completely voluntary basis as their contribution to the fund-raising effort. including at 3.0 pm
