Not as daft a question as it might sound. The astonishing answer seems to be yes: some dogs can sniff out some cancers quite reliably. It may be a while before patients abandon the science lab for the labrador, but the evidence here - and not just anecdotes, but rigorous experiments - suggests it's a technique worth developing. A film no dog-lover will want to miss. DB
