In North Uist, the MacDonalds move their Highland cattle to the tidal island of Vallay.

In North Uist, the Highland cattle are moved to a tidal island, and pregnancy is scanned. It’s showtime for Camy and Rachel, and in the Cairngorms, Jenni expands her animal menagerie.

In North Uist, the MacDonalds are preparing for one of the biggest events in their calendar – walking their 150 pregnant highland cattle from the mainland to the tidal island of Vallay. It’s only accessible by foot for a six-hour window, which means they must race against the tide to get them across.

Camy enjoys his favourite pastime and an important earner – primping and preening other farmers’ animals for agricultural shows. And Rachel gets a chance to step into the ring too, with one of Allan’s calves. 

In the Cairngorms National Park, Jenni is planning for the year ahead with her fledgling alpaca, trekking business. She’s decided a trio of pygmy goats is the perfect addition to the menagerie. Robert isn’t so sure.
