In the 1980s, Chippendales was a worldwide phenomenon. At the centre of its meteoric growth were Steve Banerjee, who left India to live the American dream, and Nick De Noia, a children’s television producer with a talent for turning beefcakes into Broadway-esque dancers. At first glance, this is a story of two entrepreneurs who turned a small dance act into an empire of fantasy, but behind the bright lights and alluring dance moves was a darker world of drugs, murder, and unbridled ambition.
