Lorna Taggart from Isle of Skye has spent a lifetime battling the condition lipoedema.

A woman’s lifelong struggle with the debilitating fat disorder lipoedema. At last offered treatment, her hopes for surgery are dashed by Covid-19. 

Lipoedema is a condition thought to affect around 300,000 women in Scotland. It is a genetic disorder where abnormal fat cells lead to a disproportionate accumulation of weight in the middle of the body. It is highly debilitating, impacting not only on a woman’s appearance and general wellbeing, but on her mobility and state of mind. 

Lorna Taggart, from Isle of Skye, has battled lipoedema all her adult life. Broadcaster John McDiarmid is Lorna’s brother and has been filming with her since early 2019, not long after she was diagnosed. The film charts Lorna's journey from her teens through to today as a full-time teacher and mother of three, still facing a future dictated by a condition that very few understand, and that medical practitioners often fail to identify.
