Hazel Irvine introduces live coverage of the best-of-11-frame matches as the second round of the 2014 UK Championship gets under way at York's Barbican Centre.

The BBC Snooker season gets underway at the sport's second biggest ranking event. The brand new format in 2013 saw all 128 players starting in the same round, giving up-and-coming rookies a chance to take on the established stars in front of a packed York Barbican Centre crowd. There were major first round shocks but the final was contested by the world's top two players, with Neil Robertson the eventual winner. Here the second round gets under way and, if the seedings go to plan, world champion Mark Selby will take centre stage, aiming for a place in the last 32. Live coverage of the best-of-11-frame matches is introduced by Hazel Irvine.
