Junior MasterChef is back for 2014 to find the best young cook in the country. From thousands of applicants, 24 passionate cooks between the ages of eight and 12 are bidding to become the champion.

The first four cooks have to dazzle judges John Torode and Donal Skehan to win just one semi-final place. Their first test is to create the ultimate burger from a selection of mystery ingredients in just 50 minutes. The contestants are given three trays of different ingredients to choose from. One for the burger, one containing ingredients for the extra fillings, and one for the burger bun. First, John and Donal go head to head to show viewers at home their version of the perfect burger. Then it's the turn of the young gastronomes - will the contestants be able to show creativity, imagination and flair?

Next, the four cooks have one hour to make their own two favourite dishes in the fight for that all-important semi-final place. Whose dishes will taste the best and make the judges smile? With sunshine chicken, coconut creme brulee and ravioli two ways, there is plenty for the judges to get their teeth into. Prepare for a deliciously tight contest.
