Romantic drama about a 20-year relationship between a political activist and a socialite.

Left-wing firebrand Katie and preppy, carefree Hubbell meet at college in the 1930s and have nothing in common, but slowly begin to see the best in each other. Meeting again after the war, they fall in love and marry. With Katie's encouragement, Hubbell begins a career as a Hollywood screenwriter, but their differences remain.
