A young baseball player, Miguel 'Sugar' Santos (Algenis Perez Soto), is brought from a US training ground in his native Dominican Republic to play for a minor league team in Iowa.

A talented young baseball player, Miguel 'Sugar' Santos, is brought from a US training ground in his native Dominican Republic to play for a minor league team in Iowa. But he soon finds that his pursuit of the ever-elusive American dream might well remain unfulfilled.
