A celebration of Deaf Awareness Week – an annual event that aims to educate hearing people about deaf issues, deaf culture and language.

Yvonne and Julian look back at how See Hear has covered Deaf Awareness Week from the 1980s to present day. They have picked out some of the best moments, from the beginnings of the campaign for official recognition of BSL right through to the passing of the BSL Act.

Later, Yvonne and Julian are joined by Chris Beech, the chef de mission for the Deaflympics 2025, and Nathan Young, a Team GB deaf swimmer, to talk about the campaign they’ve launched to create fair play for deaf athletes. Show less
