For every RNLI crew member, the first shout is just the beginning of many firsts.

On the south western tip of Ireland, Castletownbere crew member Donagh faces a baptism of fire on his first shout as the crew carry out a dramatic rescue of a fisherman who’s suffered a suspected stroke.

In Burnham-on-Sea on the Somerset coast, the crew are called out to a mayday from a houseboat that is sinking fast. In Newquay, a surfer has been caught out by the stormy seas and is struggling to back it back to shore.

And in Northern Ireland, the Carrybridge crew face an unusual challenge: a cross-country trek to rescue three French fishermen whose boat has broken down on a small island. Show less
