Self-taught farming couple SJ and Nat rear their herd of free range pigs in the Pennines near Todmorden, West Yorkshire, and over the past decade have built up a farm that now supports them. They are proud of their award-winning sausages and hope their passion for high-welfare meat, and their freshly cooked samples, will attract plenty of attention at the Lancashire Game and Country Festival. As well as notching up sausage sales, SJ is keen to launch her new experimental products on the palates of passing shoppers.
Meanwhile, for organic farmers Emma and Ian, who live in the Ribble Valley, it’s their first time at the festival. As well as aiming for a sell-out day for their grass-fed beef, it’s a chance for Ian to spread the word about their farm and reel in new trade. Emma focuses on her first love, the cows, and Ian is the people person. For both of these farming couples, the hard work of being at the festival will be worth it if they go home in an empty van and manage to win the hearts and loyalty of new customers. Show less
