Sabrina Grant presents as a team of expert crafters transform unused objects into contemporary and functional items.
Decades of history are on display in the workshop today in the form of a photo collection. Araf has a lifetime of travel memories after a career as an air steward and a keen photographer. He has captured his own family’s history over generations, but the photographs are shut away, and Araf would love something that would bring out the memories and become a piece he can pass down. Metalsmith John and woodwork specialist Shelley come up with rival designs to tempt him.
Presenter Sabrina has brought in her own special items for a transformation. It’s a collection of denim clothing that belonged to her sister, who died suddenly ten years ago. Although Sabrina and her mum have repurposed and reused a lot of her sister’s things, the box of denim has been hidden away. Designer and fabric expert Chinelo wants to create something beautiful for Sabrina’s mum and for Sabrina too as a celebration of her sister’s memory.
Melodie arrives in the workshop to see what carpentry expert Shelley can do with her item. It’s a drum kit that belonged to her musician father, Barry. He played the drums from the age of 16 to his retirement at 82, and Melodie and her mum went to see him play all over the country. Barry passed away recently, and Melodie wants the drum kit to become part of her home. Shelley has an idea to transform the drums and keep Melodie’s precious memories.
And remaker Elizabeth has a favour to ask interior design specialist Rob. Her son’s first guitar no longer gets played, so she gives Rob the chance to use his imagination and come up with something unique – and Rob doesn’t disappoint. Show less
