As the third lockdown begins to lift in mid-April, emergency cases inevitably begin to rise. This puts pressure on bed and staff availability in the Critical Care Unit at University Hospital, Coventry. With two neurosurgery patients requiring urgent treatment, but with only one bed available, one patient faces a fourth cancellation of her treatment.
