Ramsay MacMahon’s motto in life is to work hard and play hard. With this in mind he always has something planned to look forward to at the weekend and you don’t have to go far - Scotland is your oyster.

For anyone living in Glasgow, a trip “doon the water” to Largs is a must. Ramsay has always dreamed of being the captain of a fancy yacht and so his first stop is to one of Scotland’s finest marinas, Largs Yacht Haven. Here, Ramsay is put through his paces of sailing a huge 40-foot yacht by a local skipper. Back on terra firma he learns about the Battle of Largs and the Viking attack that took place on these very shores.

The next day Ramsay heads for the ferry across to the Isle of Cumbrae where he cycles the 10-mile road round the island, stopping off at its well-known landmarks including Fintry Bay, Crocodile Rock and the Cathedral of the Isles.

Tha Ramsay MacMahon a’cur roimhe a bhi ag obair gu cruaidh – agus a’cleasachd gu sona nuair a gheibh e an cothrom. Sin is coireach gu bheil e a’fàgail a bhaile gach deireadh sheachdain – is cha leig thu leas siubhal fada airson deagh roghainn curseachad.

Is d’fhiach dhan h-uile duine an Glaschu cuairt a ghabhail gu beul Chluaidh agus na Leargaidh Ghallda. Bha Ramsay riamh a’ dèanamh dealbh dheth fhèin aig stiùir bàta brèagha siùil, is cha b’e ruith ach leum gu cala a’bhaile airson leasan bho sgiobair eòlach.

Air ais air talamh tioram cluinnidh e eachdraidh a bhlàir a thachair air an dearbh chladach seo, is a thug riaghladh nan Lochlannach san iar-thuath gu crìch.
An ath latha tha Ramsay ag gabhail aiseag Chumaraidh. Cuiridh e cuairt air deich mìle rothaid an eilein air baidhseagail, a’tadhal ann am Bàgh Fintreidh, air Creag a’Chrogaill, agus Àrd-eaglais nan Eilean.
