Escaping the rat race is Ramsay MacMahon’s secret to surviving the working week and Scotland has it all when it comes to holiday destinations. He travels to East Lothian for a weekend of high-octane fun and fascinating history.

Starting in Dunbar, Ramsay learns about the humble beginnings of John Muir. The environmentalist and founding father of America’s national parks movement was born here. Ramsay cycles along part of the John Muir Way with a few activities thrown in along the way.

On the road, it’s not long before the bike is swapped for a wetsuit and Ramsay gets a wakeboarding lesson. Exhausted after a non-stop day, he then spends the night in a secluded cosy cabin.

Reaching North Berwick, Ramsay finally gets up close to the famous East Lothian landmark that has been following him since he arrived – the Bass Rock home to the world's largest colony of Northern Gannets.
