Janine has lived her entire life never knowing the identity or ethnicity of her birth father. Her white and British mum kept her true parentage a secret, which made life difficult while growing up on Braunstone Estate in Leicester with darker skin. Janine finally wants to discover the origins of her DNA so she can put the mystery to rest and give her children some answers.

Margaret was adopted in Southport when she was only six months old. Until now, she never felt brave enough to search for information about her ancestry, in particular what happened to her birth mother. She’s wondering if DNA can finally reveal the truth, and she’s shocked by the results.

31-year-old Duri was devastated when her mother died of ovarian cancer eight years ago. But even worse was the discovery that the disease might be in her DNA, and that she could carry a potentially fatal genetic mutation. Hoping to someday be a mum, Duri wants to test her DNA to see if she is likely to contract the fatal disease. Show less
