Carols from King's

2020

Duration: 1 hour, 14 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC Two WalesLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Wales HD

A solo chorister begins to sing Once in Royal David's City, in the candlelit chapel of King's College, Cambridge, and the well-loved celebration of the Christmas story begins once more. This year, the young choristers are joined by The King’s Singers, singing within separate bubbles and filmed without a congregation, to protect against coronavirus.

Well-loved carols include the Sussex Carol (arr. Vaughan Williams), In the Bleak Mid-Winter (Gustav Holst, arr. Wilberg) O Come All Ye Faithful and Stille Nacht (arr. John Rutter, performed by The King’s Singers). The Christmas story is told through the words of the King James Bible, with poems by Toni Morrison and Howard Thurman. Show less
