When Mum Becomes Dad

First broadcast: on CBBC ChannelLatest broadcast: on CBBC HD

Available for years

What is it like when your mum becomes your dad? Twelve-year-old Tilly’s mum came out as transgender when she was 7 years old. We follow Tilly as she shows us what her life is like now.

Having just moved up to secondary school, Tilly hasn't told her new friends about her family as she is uncertain as to when will be the right time to tell them. When her birthday party comes up, Tilly has a decision to make - will she explain to her friends that Jack is trans or will she make up a story to buy herself more time? To help her decide, Tilly meets Nat and Faith, who both have trans dads and help her feel more confident about sharing her story. And when younger brother Mal experiences some mean comments at school, new friend Nat offers to give a talk to his class. Show less
