Hope

Duration: 28 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC Radio Scotland MWLatest broadcast: on BBC Radio Scotland FM

Without hope what are we? But how do you cling on to hope in the face of adversity and what is the role of hope in helping us weave through life’s more challenging moments? How useful a tool is hope and how much could we harness it to be happier and more positive. Is there such a thing as hoping too much?

Endurance athlete Lee Craigie jumps on her bike and goes in search of hope. She finds it through Jamie Andrew's dramatic and heartbreaking story of what hope looked like when he was clinging to life on a mountain top, hoping against hope that he would be rescued.

Lee also hears thought provoking words of hope from Father Roddy Johnstone while abuse survivor Madeleine Black leaves her to mull over the idea that hope stands for Hold On Pain Ends. Show less
