Rugby League: Challenge Cup

2019

Semi-Final: St Helens v Halifax

Duration: 2 hours, 29 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC Two EnglandLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Northern Ireland HD

Live coverage of the day’s second semi-final, as Halifax bid to become the first lower-league side to reach the Challenge Cup final in the competition’s 122-year history.

Halifax are the first non-Super League team to have progressed this far since Hull KR in 2006, and have beaten London Broncos and Bradford Bulls in the last two rounds. They begin as outsiders against St Helens, but dream of repeating their famous 19-18 win against Saints in the 1987 final – the last time Halifax lifted the trophy.

Super League high-flyers St Helens, meanwhile, thrashed Wakefield Trinity 48-10 in the quarter-finals, and will be confident of reaching the final for the first time since 2008.

Tanya Arnold presents the action from the University of Bolton Stadium. Commentary is provided by Matt Newsum, with analysis by Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Brian Noble and Jon Wilkin. Show less
