Can Adam Peaty propel himself to gold once more? He seeks a third straight world title in the 50m breaststroke before joining forces with his team-mates in the mixed medley relay.
Peaty’s four-year winning sequence was ended by South African Cameron van der Burgh at last year’s Commonwealth Games, but the Brit remains the only man in history to clock a time under 26 seconds and starts as heavy favourite in South Korea. Peaty helped the British team set a European record in the 4x100m mixed medley relay at the 2017 World Championships, although it was only enough for fifth place in a high-quality race won by the USA in a world record time.
The day’s three other finals are the men’s 800m freestyle and 200m butterfly and women’s 200m freestyle, in which enduring Italian Federica Pellegrini is targeting a fourth gold medal.
