The Family Brain Games

Series 1

Episode 5

Duration: 59 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC Two EnglandLatest broadcast: on BBC Two Northern Ireland HD

The ultimate test of collective, cross-generational intelligence, hosted by Dara O Briain. With new scientific research showing that our ability to work with others in solving problems is a key feature of modern intelligence, eight of Britain’s smartest families pool their respective IQs and go head to head in the ultimate quiz that will push their minds – and family dynamics – to the limits.

In semi-finals week, the six remaining families battle it out to be crowned the ultimate winner of The Family Brain Games 2019, all under the watchful eyes of leading neuroscientist Dr Hannah Critchlow.

So far, the families have been victorious through the intensely scrutinising heats, and now they take on their toughest set of challenges yet. They each face a further five rounds of brain-teasing challenges, which have been created in association with neuroscientist Dr Adam Hampshire from Imperial College, London, and are designed to test their individual and collective intelligence like never before.

Tonight is the first of the three semi-finals. Two of last week’s winning families return to the Games Lab to take on even tougher challenges, which test their vocabulary, reasoning, logic, 3D manipulation and communication skills. The competition concludes in the intense all-or-nothing round - Interrogation. Only one family can triumph - who will win the fight to the finish line? Show less
