La Cenerentola
Cenerentola is not allowed to go to the ball where Prince Ramiro will be choosing a bride, but when he arrives at her house disguised as his servant they immediately fall in love. Rossini's take on the Cinderella tale has no fairy godmother, pumpkins or lost slippers. This is a comic opera with a darker side, more about social mobility than magic.
