The Embassy World
Professional Championship
For the next eight days 32 of the world's leading darts specialists from 18 countries (and a mixed bag to boot) will fight tooth and nail on stage at Jollees for the most coveted honour in their sport -and a reward of E10,000 for the winner. This afternoon four of the first-round matches take place, and among them is
ERIC BRISTOW , the 13/8 favourite to retain the title.
The most close-fought match should be between England International, ALAN GLAZIER and JERRY UMBERGER , the talented star from the USA. Also playing in this session are BOB SINNAEVE from
Canada, and the No 8 seed from Northern Ireland STEVE BRENNAN who, on form, should beat Welshman CERI MORGAN. It's the best of three sets, five legs per set.
