In Rona Tarry 's house past members of the family - smuggler, merchant and City Councillor, some of whom died over 100 years ago - have continued their presence, kept alive by photos, old possessions and handed-on stories. The house has a strong Edwardian feel as if gaslight were still used; some of grandmother's dresses still are. But family fortunes have had their ups and downs - loss of property, ghostly noises and a disappearance ... (R)
