A new version for the 1960s of the Mussorgsky-Ravel Pictures at an Exhibition
with the London Symphony Orchestra
Leader, John Georgiadis
Conducted by Charles Mackerras

In 1874 Mussorgsky wrote a set of piano pieces inspired by some of the pictures in a memorial exhibition of the work of his friend Victor Hartmann. Later Ravel produced an orchestral version which has become a regular part of the concert repertoire. This film is an attempt at a contemporary version: a suite for moving pictures and orchestra.
