A play cycle by Iain MacCormick
Starring John Robinson, Peter Wyngarde with Peter Bryant

The action of the play is set in the District of Dalpore, India, in 1947

The fourth and final play in Iain MacCormick's comprehensive portrait The English Family Robinson brings the story up to 1947. It tells the story of Ross's son, Sandy, a commissioner in the Indian Civil Service, who is charged with the duty of handing over his administration at the time of the partition of India, on August 15, of that year.

Unfortunately, his division is bisected by a river which becomes the frontier between the new India and the new Pakistan. He has been ordered to avoid violence at all costs, and the play is about Sandy's struggle to keep the peace, even though in doing so he may be jeopardising his own future.
