The Lane: 1: The Family

on BBC Two England

The first in a new series of documentaries.

Four generations of the Burns family were born and bred around Brick Lane in London's East End. Street-trading and boxing are in their blood. Tony runs the famous Repton Boxing Club, visits the Kray twins in prison and administers a trust at Repton Public School in Derbyshire. His son Tony practises his trading skills in the City's money markets. Uncle Charlie trades from a stall in Brick Lane market - they say he is a millionaire. With Harry, Tony's dad, he recalls the days when they fought the 'Battle of Brick Lane' and drove the Maltese out of town.
