Winner of four Oscars, one of the most celebrated British films of recent years is the true story of two indomitable men, Eric Liddell son of a Scottish missionary, and Harold Abrahams, son of a naturalised Lithuanian Jew, who brought honour to Britain as athletic champions in the 1924 Olympics. But their battles on the running track were merely the climax of fiercer conflicts in their lives: Liddell striving for the integrity of his religious beliefs, Abrahams fighting against the polite anti-Semitism of college and society...
