Henry VIII 's majestic former residence is the perfect backdrop for the world's largest annual flower show. This year more than 700 exhibitors and 50 gardens showcase the best of British horticulture, from traditional and contemporary garden designs to floral art displays and information on plant heritage. Joe Swift and Carol Klein provide an insight into the event, which opened on Tuesday, revealing this year's prizewinners and highlighting the must-see exhibits.
Elsewhere, Chris Beardshaw visits the Festival of Roses, a spectacular gathering of a much-loved bloom, where new breeds are unveiled; and Wesley Kerr finds out about the history behind the Longford River, which feeds into the Palace's famous Long Water Canal. Coverage of the show continues tomorrow at 9pm. See Sunday's choice. Alan Titchmarsh solves your problems: page 26 Cordless tool offer: page 57
