The Dahlaks. There are 400 desert islands in the Red Sea, all waiting to be explored by the expedition. They are the home of graceful gazelles, fast falcons, land hermit crabs that have forsaken the sea for a life in open air, and colourful fiddlers that live between the tides. The mysterious mangroves reveal a strange water-bird, while the blooming underwater coral gardens house poster-coloured butterfly fish, and a manta ray, with a wing-span over 20ft, lives in a sunken ship. Introduced by Jeffery Boswall.
